This is a story inspired by Japanese culture and history. The movie is in black and whit. The movie had multiple cameras and camera cutting closer to a group while using slow motion. Kurosawa the director wanted the movie to stay new while making the movie long and he did this by making sure new movements were changed each time a fight were to occur. The film has a Hollywood action take on the movie however still keeping it historical.
