Metropolis

Directed by Fritz lang is a silent filmed called Metropolis. The film is is considered a German cinema with a German expressionist style. The expressionist style is shown by the contrast in the movie with higher and lower class.

Summery:

The year 2026 in Metropolis in which the area has been sliced into half causing a riff between the higher and lower class. A girl named Maria brings workers children in to observe the rich man life of Joh Fredersen and his son Freder. Maria and the worker children were soon turned away. Freder then hurrays to find Maria and the children and goes to find her however when he was trying to find Maria he saw a life changing event. One of the machines malfunctioned causing an explosion which kills and injures a lot of workers. Freder then goes to his father to inform him as to what just happened. His father upset as to why his assistant didn’t inform him of this accident and his son did. The assistant again was caught withholding the truth when the discovery of a secret maps was found on a dead worker causing the assistant to be fired. Freder is exposed to the side of his father he’s never seen before which is the side of his father not caring for the workers and their human needs which causes Freder to secretly rebel and goes in place of a worker. Freder takes the map and seeks help to understanding from the inventor Rotawang. Rotawang was creating a robot so the it can kill feeders father and raise rebellion however this was kept secret until Frefer tells Rotawang to give the robot the kindness of Maria. Rotawang then kidnaps Maria and makes Freder believe that Maria was embracing another man which makes Freder devastated. The robot that gained traits of Maria start to create chaos in metropolis. Freder finds out about the false Maria and knows that Maria does love him and with help Freder rescues the children that were in the hands of the robot and the workers burn the robot. Rotwang dies and Freder continue the role of mediator.
